Mangosteen- The Ultimate Queen
Mangosteen, commonly known as the ‘Queen of Fruits,’ or the ‘Food of the Gods’, is a tangy and sweet fruit grown in numerous parts of South-East Asia like Malaysia, Thailand, and even Singapore. It also materializes to be the national fruit of the country of Thailand. Being purple in color, the fruit has a plump white pulp, parted with seeds. While the technical name of the fruit is ‘Garcinia Mangostana,’ in a diverse country like India, the much-treasured fruit is prevalent and expended under the names of Kaattampi (Malayalam), Mangustan (Hindi), Kokam (Marathi), Kao (Bengali) and Hannu (Kannada). The tropical berry has won the fancy of many sous-chefs and home chefs for its refreshingly tangy flavor, counting that of Queen Victoria of Britain.
